Association for the Advancement of Feminism withdraws from the Sexual Minorities Forum
The Sexual Minorities Forum (SMF) was set up in 2004 to provide a regular and formal channel for non-governmental organizations and the Government to exchange views on issues concerning sexual minorities and transgendered persons in Hong Kong. The Forum has not met for over two years and has been used as an excuse by the Government to delay legislating against discrimination as required under the ICCPR. Our withdrawal from the SMF signals our dissatisfaction with how the Hong Kong Government continues to ignore the rights of sexual minorities.
The Association for the Advancement of Feminism (AAF) is a women’s advocacy group in Hong Kong and has been active in promoting greater gender equality and fighting for women’s right in Hong Kong since 1984.
Please contact Annie Chan (9303-4390), the Chairperson of AAF or Jodie Hui (2720-0891) for further details.
