Gabriela HK 成立7週年活動

剛過去的星期日， Gabriela Hkb 舉行了慶祝成立7週年的活動。Gabriela 是菲律賓全國性的婦女團體聯盟，成立於1984年，成員來自不同婦女界別及組織，在不同國家/地方有分支，Gabriela HK便是其中之一。當日婦進的家務移工組也有被邀請出席活動以及發言，以下是發言內容。

We at AAF, the Association for the Advancement of Feminism, are here in solidarity with you, Gabriela Hong Kong. We support your message and actions for a women-led mass struggle for social change.

Gabriela was founded in 1984 to address the struggles of women in the Philippines – and in the very same year, 1984, AAF came into being in Hong Kong. More than 30 years ago we each began working to promote the rights and welfare of women within our separate and distinct contexts, but now Gabriela has been established in Hong Kong for 7 years…

Although the demographics of our respective groups may differ; certain aspects of our everyday realities differ; and our group dancing abilities differ, we are here today to express that our desire for a more socially just Hong Kong is the same.

We are learning from you what issues strike you hardest, and striving to take them on with you. Because feminism needs to advance in Hong Kong, and it advances only when ALL women are free from violence and exploitation. Only with us – the people – acting together can we hope to survive imperialism, capitalism, misogyny, homophobia, sexism, racism, classism, ableism – all those unhappy -isms – intact, whole.

How is it that, even under such trying conditions of living, every Sunday, we are able to see so many women migrant workers bring warmth and humanity back into Central, where cold silver and grey skyscrapers and all the money and power that they represent threaten to contain and dominate every human interaction from Monday to Saturday?

You are irrepressible. And so people are irrepressible.

Happy anniversary, GABRIELA. And may you never give up the fight.
